We're hearing about the numerous barriers to delivering state-of-the-art care:
Social (people only seek medical help when their condition becomes extreme. People also travel with their wider family to hospital, meaning there's a massive loss of income)
Resource (resources and funding are extremely limited, so some 'gold standard' treatments are not available. There is a fantastic culture of working with these finite resources, but recognition that more is needed to do better for the patients).
Technical (access to technologies and materials typically available in the UK is limited. Technical and surgical capability is high, and there is a huge desire to embrace state-of-the-art).
